General Homework Guidelines

Reception: 1 hour/week - Shared reading/using mathematics in an everyday context.

Years 1 & 2: 1 hour/week - Reading, spellings, writing, Impact mathematics.

Years 3 & 4: 1.5 hours/week - Reading, spellings,
literacy & mathematics worksheets/Impact,
research skills.

Year 5: 2.0 hours/week - Reading, spellings,
literacy & mathematics worksheets/challenges,
research skills.

Year 6: 2.5 hours/week - Reading, spellings, literacy & mathematics worksheets/challenges, 1 topic to research
per half term, & science.

Hearing children read at home for 10 minutes each night is part of our homework policy for every class, yet for some children a whole week or more goes by without them being heard reading. Finding time for reading
with your child each night makes so much difference to improving their reading and comprehension skills. This is so whether your child is beginning to read or a fluent confident reader. If you don't already do so
on a regular basis, please make time to hear your child read as often as possible.
