Our School
Past
Our school was opened in 1966. Previously children from the 2 parishes had been educated in the parish hall and at St Stephen's school in Welling. St Thomas More School started as a one form intake then with 3 infant and 4 junior classes.
Over the years the school has gradually increased in size and now has 330 pupils. We have 5 classrooms in the infants and 6 classes in the juniors. Each classroom in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, has an interactive whiteboard. We also have a fantastic new computer suite/library combined, 2 small classrooms for group teaching and a new staff room and meeting room which doubles up as an additional teaching area for groups.
Way back in 1986 the school was severely damaged by fire due to vandalism and several areas in the centre of the school, including the hall, had to be completely rebuilt. The school has had 3 headteachers since opening - Sister Mary Cecilia, Miss M. Sloan and the present headteacher, Mrs N. van Dam.
Lots of events go on in our school as you can see from the school diary. We try and keep a record of all events by using the digital camera to record them throughout the year. We have several large photo albums full of pictures of the life of our school.
